The Bolt Accelerator Program in Kenya has reached a critical milestone with the selection of the top 20 participants who will advance to the Bolt Den Phase. Following a competitive application process, 120 participants were initially chosen. Each participant presented their business concepts through video pitches, demonstrating a clear alignment with Bolt’s vision for Kenyan cities. This vision prioritizes the well-being of citizens, environmental sustainability, and ensuring accessible and environmentally friendly transportation for all.

“We are excited to move forward with this pivotal stage of the Accelerator Program,” said George Abasy, Public Policy Manager at Bolt. “The dedication and innovative spirit displayed by our participants are truly inspiring.
This program grants Bolt drivers and boda boda operators a unique opportunity to embark on an entrepreneurial journey that resonates with Bolt’s vision for sustainable urban mobility in Kenya.”
The Bolt Den Phase, also referred to as the Bootcamp Phase, will provide these top 20 innovators with intensive training sessions led by industry experts. This phase is designed to further refine their business ideas and equip them for the highly anticipated Pitch Day in June. Here, they will compete for seed funding of €2,000 each.
The top 20 ideas presented during the selection process showcased a range of promising solutions, including mobile EV charging stations, motorcycle spare parts and service centers, enhanced safety features with dashboard camera installations, and the development of e-mobility hubs throughout Kenya.
The remaining 100 participants will continue their development through the Bolt Academy. They will receive ongoing online business training modules delivered by Bolt in collaboration with Alison, a prominent online learning platform. Upon completion, these participants will be celebrated at a virtual graduation ceremony.
In collaboration with The Nest Innovation Technology Park, Bolt remains committed to fostering a supportive ecosystem for all participants. Through a network of experienced mentors, Bolt will guide these aspiring entrepreneurs throughout each stage of their entrepreneurial journey.
The program culminates in the Business Pitch Day scheduled for June. Here, the top 20 participants will present their refined business plans, competing for a chance to win €2,000 in seed funding each. The top 10 ideas will not only receive this financial boost but also benefit from ongoing mentorship to ensure their ventures reach fruition.
